At the end of last year, tech21 released their latest smartphone case, the Evo Wallet Active Edition Case for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus (available in pink or black). If I wasn’t still hanging on to my iPhone 5, I’d seriously consider buying an Evo Waller Active Edition Case myself. That’s because I like to listen to music on my iPhone at our local gym (which we joined in January) and I could do with somewhere to stash my membership card as I need it to gain entry to the fitness suite. The wallet case offers the perfect solution, enabling me to keep my card and phone together.

Advanced Drop Protection.

I might not be able to buy an Evo Wallet Active case for my phone, however, I do already use a tech21 case.  I have a black Evo Mesh case. It was recommended to me by the staff at the Apple Store after my previous case failed to protect my phone screen when I dropped it. The Evo Mesh case is made from FlexShock, the same ultra-efficient impact absorbing material as the Evo Wallet Active Case. I can certainly vouch for its protective capabilities, having dropped my phone countless times since I bought it, without sustaining any damage.

However, while my case offers drop protection up to 2 metres, the Evo Wallet Active Case has an all new 3-layer impact absorption system, offering advanced drop protection up to 3m/9ft.

Keep your cards handy with the detachable, expandable wallet.

The 3D woven fabric of the Evo Wallet Active Case gives secure, expandable storage for your cards, keys or earphones. As I said, this is useful if you plan on hitting the gym or going for a jog. When you don’t need the storage, you can use the quick release tabs to remove the cover. Once removed, an infill piece can be slotted into place.

Admittedly, although the wallet can easily hold a couple of credit cards and some earbuds, or a couple of cards and your main car key fob, it’s never going to store my main bunch of house keys!  Nevertheless, I think the wallet is a really useful addition to a smartphone case for when you’re out and about and you don’t fancy taking carrying your purse, wallet or handbag.

The Evo Wallet Active Case is available in pink or black. Personally, I’d go ‘black’, but it would be great to have an even wider selection of colours. A funky phone case needs funky colours in my humble opinion.

I like the idea of a detachable cover and the way the FlexShock material grips around the screen without interfering with edge-to-edge screen protectors. The FlexShock material feels substantial and solid, yet slotting the phone into place, volume button side first, is easy and hassle free.  The case is just as easy to remove, too. One of the other things that sets this smartphone case apart from the rest is the detachable cover’s neat button closure to give the screen additional protection.

Despite having a wallet cover and wrap around protection, the Evo Wallet Active Case case is lightweight and ultrathin when not being used for storage. As you’d expect with a good quality smartphone case, it fits securely in the hand and gives easy access to all the function buttons and lightning connector.

Overall impression.

I like the Evo Wallet Active case. The wallet option is a useful addition for active people on the go. What’s more, I know from experience, the patented FlexShock material will give you solid, dependable smartphone protection, without compromising on style or good looks.
