Have a glittering Christmas with Homesense (& giveaway).
Are you ready for Christmas?
Forgive me, but I need to talk to you about Christmas. Yes, I know it’s only October, but I’m on a mission!
Usually, I’m the first one to suck air through my teeth and ‘tut’ when I see the Christmas displays vying for our attention amidst the plethora of pumpkins and witches hats. However, this year I don’t want to miss out on the Christmas bargains at HomeSense because after many, many years with our faithful 5ft artificial tree, we’ve finally upgraded to a larger, more substantial tree, (a New Year’s Sale bargain). Consequently, we need to find some decorations to hang on all the additional branches.
I knew I’d find something fabulous at my local HomeSense store because I’d already had a sneak peek. Yes, dear readers, some of you may think October is too early to mention Christmas, but I was checking out baubles, gifts and decorations in July at the HomeSense and TK Maxx Christmas Preview in London.
HomeSense Christmas Preview Event.
The enjoyed my very first Christmas Preview Event and not just because of the complimentary glass of prosecco, the canapes or the little goodie bag. I was impressed by the wide range of decorations, ornaments and gifts, as well as the seasonal tableware for parties and meals. It gave me an enticing taste of what to expect when the Christmas displays hit the HomeSense and TK Maxx stores.
Here’s a selection of some of the beautiful sets at the preview event:
Christmas has arrived at a HomeSense store near you.
I visit the Nottingham HomeSense store most weeks, on my way to my voluntary work as a debt adviser at Cornerstone Money Advice. The Nottingham store always puts on a wonderful Christmas display so when I popped in last week I was delighted to see shelves bursting with lots of sparkly goodness.
Most years I’ve been happy to wander round and gaze at all the shiny things, but this year I was on a mission: I needed baubles! Thankfully, it didn’t matter that I’d missed the January sales on the High Street as the prices in HomeSense are discounted all year round. I picked up a set of 6 beautiful blown glass baubles, reduced from £5.99 to £2.99 and a box of unusual glittery bells to hang on our lovely new tree for only £12.99.
I love that HomeSense don’t just sell your average assortment of bells and baubles: there are some lovely unique items and treasures too. In fact, I’d say there’s something for everyone, even if you do occasionally have to move aside the dancing snowmen to find decorations that are more to your taste! Unless the dancing snowmen are to your taste…No judgment here!
Just remember, because prices at Homesense and TK Maxx home are up to 60% less than the usual retail price, they won’t hang around forever. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! I’ve already bought my beautiful bargain baubles, so why don’t you?
Feast your eyes on some of the glittering Christmas items HomeSense and TK Maxx have to offer this Christmas.

This is a collaborative post. As always, the words and opinions are my own.
We have an artificial tree in the house and a real one in the front porch. The house gets to warm during the Winter and with having a dog, a real tree tends to be bare by Christmas if we have one inside!
We have 2 artificial trees as we have cats and i wouldnt want the pine needles to get stuck in their paws. One is fibre optic though and looks lovely in our conservatory. The other is in our lounge. Fab giveaway thanks x
An artificial one. Couldn’t have a real one with the cat!
We usually buy a real Christmas tree. I love the smell of pine (but not the falling needles!). It’s part of our family traditions at Christmas.
We are having a real tree.
No Christmas tree here at all…for two reasons! We’ll be away visiting family for most of the Christmas period…plus our cat loves detaching baubles from Christmas trees, so we have to restock it every morning otherwise!
i have a white tree this year x
We are have a real one in the garden that we put fairy lights on each year, and a very realistic looking artificial one for the lounge,
Unfortunately i have to have a good fake one,as im allergic to real ones xx
We live in such a tiny flat, we don’t have room for a tree, so we have a small little tabletop white twig tree, that we leave out all year and decorate with little seasonal decorations all year 🙂 x
We always have an artificial pre lit tree 🙂
We have always had a real tree in the past but bought an artificial tree this year – cant face all those needles again.
Oh I love HomeSense and was so excited to see the getting ready for Christmas last time I was there! We’ve got quite a big artificial tree, an investment when we bought our house which will hopefully last for years but looks amazing when it’s decorated! Fab giveaway thanks! #HomeEtc x
We always get a real tree, but add at least one new bauble every year (and more and more fairy lights!) 🙂
I have an artificial tree after have a real tree one year and spending the majority of December hoovering pine needles! Mind you it did smell lovely and I will probably still consider a real tree again! 🙂
We always have both! A real one in our kitchen/dining area and an artificial in our living room
Fake all the way, real trees needles are the gift that keep on giving, finding them until March!
usually its an artificial one we have had for years looks pretty real
An artificial one, less mess!
Last year we didn’t get a Christmas tree at all, I’m not even really sure why. This year we’ll be getting a real tree but I’m slightly concerned that Boo, our 6 month old kitten, will make very short work of it…thanks for the great giveaway! X #HomeEtc
We have a fabulous little fibre-optic tree, which has been going for years. Unfortunately, it’s on its last legs (literally – I have to sellotape one leg on every Christmas!), but we’ve never found one as nice so we’re determined it will last us for a few more years yet … x
We have a beautiful artificial tree which looks very real. I’d love a real tree, but with 2 dogs it’d become a very messy Christmas!!
I would love a real tree but its not possible with my 6 month old but our artificial tree is lovely <3
We have 3 artifical trees, memories of standing on the occasional pine needle when I was little aren’t nice!! Xx
Artificial this year!
We’ve got a couple of artificial ones. I prefer them. Less messy.
An artificial Christmas tree, we find them much easier!
Artificial, with 2 toddlers and a baby i dont think a real tree would withstand their messing
Last year, as I was in a new house, I had a real tree AND an artificial one – extravagant I know 🙂 I’m gonna do the same this year, but we’re looking at getting a different kind of tree because last year’s traditional Spruce barely made it to Christmas Day – the house was so warm and the poor thing clearly didn’t like it – so this year, we’re probably going to get a Fur and cross our fingers 🙂 I’m so excited to visit HomeSense in a couple of weeks!!
no tree at all this year
Think I might have a real tree this year, love the smell of the needles, mind you hoovering them up can be a bit of a pain
Considering having an artificial Christmas Tree this year.
An artificial one
We prefer an artificial tree
We always have an artificial tree
A small real one for us x
I’d like a real tree but we gave no room for one so it’ll have to be a small artificial one again, we’ll make it look nice though 🙂
Aritificial fibre optic tree x
Always a real tree in our house, Christmas not the same if not real!
We have an artificial tree every year x
Probably a real tree, got a really nice one from Haskins last year but not too big.
A real one most definitely!
we are having a real xmas tree this year
An artificial one or maybe 2.
We have an artificial tree and so we don’t have hours of faffing around every year, we wrap cling film around the whole tree when Christmas is over and store it – this means it’s ready for next Christmas! Light, tinsel, baubles and all!
Artificial inside real outside the best of both worlds ?
I prefer the artificial one – I feel sorry for the real trees dying every year.
Real if I can – depends what state the living room is in and if there’s furniture by then…
We always have a artificial tree
Artificial one can’t be doing with the pines in the carpet although I love the smell of real trees
We always have a real tree, i love the smell of fresh pine too!
artificial as it’s cheaper but I REALLY want a real one when we can as I love the ritual of getting it and the smell when it’s up!
Definitely a real one 🙂
We’re having an artificial one, we actually bought it at Homesense last year.
We always try to have a real tree in the living room, and usually have a fake tree in the conservatory as well.
We have an artificial tree
will be artificial one no needles to clean up 🙂
I plan to have an artificial one. Between the kids and the dog I envisage a lot of pine cleaning like a few years back if go real. Love the smell and look of real, but probably better left till the kids are older.
An artificial tree. We plan on buying a bigger one this year as we’ve had a 4ft last 3 years ?
We have an outdoor artificial Christmas tree
this year id love a real tree, and it must touch the ceiling and be decorated full of brightly coloured ornaments
I’d love to have a real one, but due to having cats it’s safer to have an artificial one.
We always have an artificial tree
We always have a real tree, but it causes so much mess! lol
An artificial tree with lights already on it.
an artificial one 🙂
I bought a new artificial tree last year which will be brought out again this year.
We will have an artificial tree.
We have an artificial tree.
artificial Christmas tree
We will have a small artificial tree. I didn’t use to decorate at Christmas at all, I was very bah humbug, but now that I have the little one, I do have some up for him, as I love how exciting it is at their age. I wouldn’t have a real one I don’t think, it seems sad to cut so many trees down just to sit in a room for a few weeks and then get thrown away. An artificial one will last for years!
We have a real one in the living room, and our boys have their own artificial one in their bedroom – they can decorate it in ‘their’ style then! 😉
An artificial one.
artificial Christmas tree (we have 3 cats!)
We have an artificial tree but I’d love a real one at some point!
We always have artificial as the cats would choke on the needles dropping from a real tree!
We’ll have our artificial tree up. We’ve had it a few years now & it looks amazing with the decorations on!
we bought an artificial one from house of fraser in the sale last year, can’t wait to see it up
We are going to get a real one this year!
A real one! Always, you can’t beat the smell!
We bought a glittery black one last year, so looking forward to seeing that up.
I’m not sure yet. I like the scent of a real one. We haven’t decided.
An artificial one. We had a real one 2 years ago and I swear I’m still finding the needles!
we usually have an Artificial tree, but this year i have crawling twins, haven’t decided where to keep my tree.
artificial although i would like a real one
an artificial tree – we got a decent one a few years ago and it is so easy to put up and take down, keep it simple
This Christmas we will bring out our plastic/artificial Christmas tree. It looks alright and we don’t get loose pine needles or anything, so we find it easier.
Artificial here – can’t be bothered with the constant dropping of needles and this way it looks good throughout the season.
I will be having a fibre optic artificial one
We have an artificial tree
Our tree is artificial but I love the smell of real ones!
No tree at all
No tree, but I do love the smell of a real one.
for a change it will be a real one this year
A black artificial one with purple fibre optic lights!
We have two trees – one in our front room which us artificial and a real one in our snug room. The real ones do make a bit more work (watering and sweeping up needles) but definitely worth the trouble.
The artificial Christmas tree will come down from the loft and take it’s usual place! I’d love a real one, but sadly it’s just not practical
An artificial tree, my mom gave me her old one a few years ago when she brought another one and it looks great when it’s covered in lights and decorations.
artificial tree 🙂
We’ll be using our trusty artificial tree. I would love a real one but I’m not sure how my cat would react.
We will be having an artificial tree again as we do every year. It is a very realistic one and once covered with lights and decorations it’s hard to tell the difference.
I don’t think you can beat a real tree 🙂
Thanks for a lovely giveaway! x
We will be having the same artificial Christmas tree we’ve used for the last 5 years – it’s cheaper and I don’t have to feel guilty when it eventually dies.
We will be having an artifical Christmas tree as always x
We have an artificial tree that will put up again this year
We have a real tree
i’m having a artificial one 🙂
We will be buying a real Christmas tree. It is our annual family treat!
We have a real one in the garden
We have an Artificial as bought an expensive (over £100) one after Christmas for just £30 so bagged a crimbo bargin
An artificial one. We had a real one once and were walking on the spines for weeks after and the cat ate the branches!
Will be getting out our old faithful artificial tree, sometimes think I’d love a real one but then when I hear people moaning about needle loss I’m glad I didn’t give into the temptation but I could NEVER not put a tree up it just wouldn’t feel like Christmas
Artificial tree. I’ve only had a real one once, it was very nice but messy with dropped needles!!
Always go for a real Christmas tree they smell amazing and always look great
We always have a real Christmas tree and water it well so that it does not drop its needles. It always smells so lovely too.
We have an artificial tree but it looks real! We have lots of tinsel, baubles and fancy ornaments, so much stuff that you can hardly see the tree for all the decorations!
I would never ever have an artificial tree. We will be having a real one.
An artificial Christmas tree
No tree this year
ill have an artificial one
We have an artificial tree. We had a real tree a couple of time, but we found they didn’t last long enough
Opting for a Real Tree this year
We normally have an artificial tree, but I would like a real tree this year in our new house but we’ll have to see if I can persuade my husband!
Hoping to get a real tree if I’m organised but have the fake one in the loft, just in case!
We are having an artificial tree as we struggle for space so go slimline, we picked it up at the beginning of Jan last year and it’s a vast improvement on our old black artificial tree
I will have an artificial Christmas tree as I will be in South Africa for Christmas
I have had the same artificial tree for nearly 50 years. It is a memory tree with ornaments from my own childhood, my childrens and now added to with special ones for my grandchildren. The lights sadly have not lasted and I am now on the 3rd set. 🙂
We will have an artificial Christmas tree
I feel festive now!!!! So many amazing things. Cant wait to start the build up.
Thanks for linking up – Jess xx
I always have an artificial tree at Christmas. I can’t cope with having to vacuum up all those pine needles!
We have an artificial tree that we have used for the last 6 years and is still looking wonderful.
artificial tree – no mess
We have a really good fake tree which looks real
No Christmas tree.
We always have a real tree 🙂
A real one
We used to have a real one but have now invested in a very realistic artificial one which looks great
A real one would be amazing but with my baby constantly poking it i think we will stick to an artificial one 🙂
Our tree will be artificial this year! We have 4 cats and a dog, it’d be a nightmare having a real tree inside!
We have an artificial tree
It will be an artificial tree, we have a dog who creates enough mess, don’t want to add any more !
We have an artificial tree
We normally have a fake tree but this year we are going to go for a real one. Just hope the cat leaves it alone though!
We have an artificial tree too
Our flat is very small so unfortunately we don’t have room for a big christmas tree, but I’ll be sure to put up our little one and decorate as Christmassy as I can!
We have an artificial tree ? as we have a 4 year old who will probably knock it over ….. more than once
We usually have artificial but I’m hoping to convince my husband to buy a real one this year
An artificial Christmas tree, I would love a real one, but they are so expensive :/
I’d love a real tree but we just don’t have room 🙁 So artificial it is!
we will be having a real christmas tree
We have an artifical tree but I much prefer a real tree and will probably get one for outside the front door.
We have an artificial tree.
I always have an artificial tree because its easier and cheaper than having a real one and can be used year after year, Money is tight so I try and get bargains throughout the year. 🙂
Always artifici8al….however…i’am sure that it sheds more than a real one would.lol
We have an artificial tree because I’m allergic to pine
We’ve had an artificial tree for the last 2 years but it’s just not the same. The smell of a real tree can’t be beaten x
I’ll have an artificial tree- its in the attic – but I’ll have some fresh flowers and plants
With a little one around we’re having an artificial tree but we have bought some scent sticks for that fabulous real tree smell.
Artificial for us with a toddler and two cats, it’s just a lot easier x
I have an artificial tree for convenience, but I would prefer a real one.
We have a 7ft artificial tree.
We have an artificial tree (well, 2 of them in fact), but they are extremely realistic and I use scented oils to bring the traditional smell of Christmas indoors!
It will be an artificial tree for us again this year. We have a young boisterous dog & a real tree would have no needles left on it after a few days with Boo keeping nosing at it & bumping into it ?
Artificial tree for us due to deranged pets!
We have a fibre optic one, which has been “up” since 2014. It just looks like a noirmal ornament for the rest of the year, but when it’s lit and it’s Christmas it obviously fits in. 🙂
It has to be an artificial tree, I have a puppy and I don’t want to risk her getting any needles stuck in her paws plus, she is going through the “Hmm, this looks very tasty” phase and trying to eat everything in sight!
we have a real tree 🙂
An artificial one, the wife does like mess from a real one.
As much as I love the smell of a real tree, I bought a new artificial one last year and it’s so pretty with ‘snow’ on all the tips! It looks lovely with silver decorations. So for me, it’s got to be artificial 🙂
Eeek I can’t wait!
We have a artificial tree but it is on it’s last legs now, if we have moved into our new home by Christmas i think i will get a real one now my youngest is a bit bigger. 🙂
We always get a real treat
Real, it always has to be a real tree.

We will have a real one! I love the smell of a real tree! You can’t beat it!
We will be having an artificial Christmas tree this year 🙂 x
I’ll be putting up the trusty old artificial tree.
It will be a artificial one due to my daughter being little yet and I don’t want pine needles about. We also don’t have much space. I do miss having a real one though
We always have a real tree but buy a couple of new decorations each year to add to our collection. I always love HomeSense at Christmas — they have a fab selection! #HomeEtc
We have a black fibre optic Christmas tree which we stand in our bay window in the lounge. It looks great with all the different colour lights changing constantly
I love a real Christmas tree – You can’t beat the smell of fresh pine 🙂
We have a fake one as our daughter got really upset about all the trees getting chopped down!
An artificial Christmas tree x
I would love a real tree but my husband isn’t keen on the idea, so it will probably be artificial.
We have an artificial tree as I much prefer the look of them.
We always have an artificial tree
we will have a artificial tree again unless we find our £1 real one at b&q again lol
I have a real Christmas tree in the lounge and an artificial tree in the family room! The real tree is more colour co-ordinated whereas the other tree is rather ‘freestyle’!
I have 5 cats and a dog and they are all really good with my artificial tree. However, I have recently acquired two kittens and they are buggers for anything that moves, dangles etc so I don’t think I will be able to have a tree this year.
We will have an artificial one unfortunately! I’d love a real one but our house is tiny!
I’d like a real one, but I put my tree up on the first so it would never last!
Not sure yet, it’s my first Christmas in this house and I’ve not worked out where the tree will fit yet. Hopefully I can manage a real tree.
We have an artificial tree – with 4 cats and a dog there is no way a real tree would survive
a little tree, as we go and have the day at my daughter’s
We are having our usual artificial fibre optic tree
We have an artificial Christmas tree
I’m really hoping for a real Christmas tree this year!
We have an artificial tree – mostly because we have pets, although we have a real one outside, planted in a pot.
It will have to be an artificial tree. As beautiful as real ones are, artificial is much easier for me.
There will be no tree for us this year. We’ve got dogs who normally try to pee up a tree so we gave up a few years ago!
We always have a real tree.
Artificial Christmas Tree
An artificial one. We couldn’t have a real one with the pets,
We only ever have an artificial tree, it would be lovely to have a real one, but too many pine needles x
Artificial – no hoovering x
An artificial tree – it didn’t go up last year as we were having some flooring laid, so looking forward to doing it again this year!
A real tree!
