Surprise tickets to a musical in London – it was a lovely gift as there’s no way I could have afforded them myself, but mum knew how much I would enjoy it.
When I was little I desperately wanted a little sister. One Christmas, my mum made me a cloth doll that was my size and made matching outfits for us both, so that I could have a doll sister, if not a real one. I took her everywhere. I still can’t believe how much time it must have taken.

I had always wanted a cat but because we lived in a flat, we couldn’t have one. One Christmas, my husband had a woman at work print him off a whole lot of IOU vouchers for different cat accessories, essentials and a cat with the promise that within the year we would be out of the flat and I could cash my vouchers in. Four months later, I got what he had promised! It was so nice because he had gone to the trouble of getting all the bits printed off for me and gave me the promise of hope for the next year. 12 years on that cat is still my nicest gift and she is one very happy fur baby!
