Cut the cost of your contact lenses by up to £200 per year with daysoft®.
(I am sharing this money-saving tip from my own personal experience. I am not being paid by daysoft®).
Are you paying too much for your contact lenses?
I love a bargain, so when I decided to start wearing contact lenses again three or four years ago I was determined to find a cheaper alternative to the daily disposables Specsavers recommended at my contact lens trial. That’s when a friend told me about daysoft® contact lenses. She switched from her usual brand of dailies to daysoft® lenses and was saving hundreds of pounds a year.
I decided to do my own research and after comparing the prices of other online contact lens companies I discovered that daysoft® lenses were cheaper than all of the other own brand and generic lenses available at the time.
I visited the daysoft® website and discovered that I could save almost £200 a year by switching from my usual contact lenses, 1-day Acuvue Moist (£29.50 for 30 pairs) to their alternative, daysoft® Silk, (only £12.98 for 32 pairs). It all seemed too good to be true and I wondered how daysoft® could afford to offer such cheap lenses without compromising quality.
The detailed information on the website, backed up by thousands of positive reviews and tens of thousands of satisfied customers convinced me to place my first order and I’ve been using them ever since.
The daysoft® story

Ron Hamilton, inventor of daily disposable lenses and Chairman of Daysoft. Image source: Daysoft.com
Ron Hamilton, a Lanarkshire-born engineer, invented daily-disposable contact lenses in 1993. Despite selling his patented process and his right to manufacture daily disposables for at least five years, he was still passionate about eye health and pursuing his dream to make daily disposables low cost for consumers.
Some years after the 5 year manufacturing embargo was lifted, Ron decided to re-enter the market with an affordable, high-specification daily-disposable contact lens using unique technology, capable of replacing other brands. He built the world’s first laboratory, based in Blantyre in Scotland, solely dedicated to the manufacture of daily disposable contact lenses and named his lenses daysoft® with the promise to ‘switch & save‘.
According to the website, daysoft® now employ 200 people and sell over 1.5 million daily-disposable lenses a week to customers around the world.
Who can switch to daysoft®?
You don’t have to be a daily disposable lens wearer to switch to daysoft®. Their unique design means that you can switch to daysoft® even if you wear Monthly, 2-Weekly or other types of extended wear lens. Daysoft® offer two types of high-specification daily disposable contact lens (Silk and Classic), capable of replacing other brands.
Switching to daysoft® doesn’t just save you money either, their high specification lenses incorporate UV inhibitor and have round-edge design for extra comfort. Furthermore, if you switch from your usual extended wear lenses to daily lenses you can avoid the mechanical complications associated with silicone materials.
Do I need a contact lens prescription?
Like most reputable online contact lens retailers, daysoft® require you to have a valid contact lens prescription from an optician before you can place an order with them. Opticians are legally obliged to give you a copy of your prescription, even if you don’t buy lenses from them. This means you are free to look for the best deal.
The cost of a contact lens check can vary from £15-£40 so its worth shopping around. Contact lens prescriptions are normally valid for up to two years from the date of issue, although sometimes your optician may give an earlier expiry date for clinical reasons and this will be written on the prescription.
It is important to have regular follow-up contact lens checks to confirm the health of your eyes and whether you are still suitable for lenses, as well as providing you with a contact lens prescription.
