If you’re looking for fun recipes to make with the kids this Christmas, why not have a go at making Santa Fruit Skewers and Festive Chocolate Pretzels?  Our kids enjoy making them because they look so colourful and taste great too. Plus, there’s always plenty of melted chocolate left on the bowl and the spoon once their Christmassy creations are finished!

Santa Fruit Skewers.

Ingredients.

• Green grapes.
• Strawberries.
• Bananas.
• Mini Marshmallows.
• Cocktail sticks for the skewers.

Each skewer will need a grape, a strawberry, a banana slice and a mini marshmallow so adjust the quantity depending on the number of skewers you wish to make.

Instructions.

1. Wash the grapes and strawberries and peel and slice your banana into about 5mm slices.

2. Cut the tops off the strawberries and stick the strawberries (cut end first) onto one end of a cocktail stick, leaving a bit of the stick visible at the top.

3. Push the mini marshmallow onto the skewer on top of the strawberry to make Santa’s bobble.

4. Add a banana slice onto the skewer and position it against the cut end of the strawberry to make Santa’s hat.

5. Finally, slide a grape (Santa’s face) onto the skewer until the little grapey head touches the banana brim of the Santa hat.

That’s it! Colourful and tasty Santa Fruit Skewers.

Please note: Fruit skewers are best served immediately, before the banana begins to brown.

Festive Chocolate Pretzels.

Ingredients.

• Large bag of pretzels.
• A bar of white chocolate or white chocolate buttons.
• Green and red sugar sprinkles.

Instructions.

1. Place the white chocolate into a suitably sized glass bowl (if you are using a chocolate bar instead of buttons, then break the white chocolate into squares first). You may need to melt it in smaller batches.

2. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave or by heating the bowl over a pan of simmering water on the hob.

3. Once the white chocolate has completely melted, dip the larger curved end of the pretzel halfway into the melted white chocolate.

4. Remove the pretzel from the chocolate and wait until it has stopped dripping before carefully laying it on a clean baking tray or plate.

5. Let the chocolate cool and then sprinkle the red and green sprinkles over the pretzels to decorate.

6. Transfer the chocolate pretzels to the fridge to harden.

7. Once the chocolate has set, place the pretzels on a clean plate.

There you go! Festive Chocolate Pretzels!
