Zeek Review: Buy discounted gift vouchers PLUS £5 FREE credit.
discounted gift vouchers for your favourite stores. You can also make money from gift vouchers you’ll never use! What’s more, if you join Zeek using the link in this post, you’ll get £5 credit to spend on your next gift voucher, (I’ll get £5, too). The great news is, once you’ve joined, you can invite your friends to join, netting you both £5 credit.
So what’s the verdict? Read on for my full review.
Our Gift Voucher Culture.
According to the UK Gift Card and Voucher Association, the UK gift card market has attained double-digit growth over the past 5 years. It’s currently estimated to be worth over £5.6bn per year. However, with as much as £300 million of gift cards bought in 2014 going unspent, there’s a risk they’ll be rendered worthless if the expiry date lapses or the retailer goes bust.
In the past, I’ve given my friends and relatives gift vouchers instead of cash, thinking they’ll be more likely to spend them on themselves. Unfortunately, we sometimes end up receiving gift vouchers for shops we don’t use, or simply forget about them until it’s too late.
Zeek Gift Voucher Marketplace Review.
The good news is you don’t have to worry about expired or useless gift vouchers anymore. You can sell them on Zeek Marketplace, in return for cash or Zeek credit (which you can redeem on future gift voucher purchases).
As well as selling your unwanted gift vouchers, you can buy gift vouchers on Zeek too. The advantage of Zeek is you can buy them at a discounted rate when you need them. Discounts are usually between 1-15%, but can be as much as 40% in some cases. This means you’re effectively cutting the cost of shopping at your favourite stores with little risk of the vouchers going unspent.
How does Zeek work?
a) Buying.
Once you’ve registered with Zeek, either via the website or the App (via Google Play or App Store), you’ll see a list of available gift vouchers. There are hundreds of discounted gift vouchers available at any one time. When I checked the website today, discounted vouchers were available for: Argos (up to 4%), Cineworld (up to 13%), Gap (up to 12%), Costa (up to 10%) and iTunes (up to 7%).
When browsing for deals, you can search for brands or search for vouchers with the biggest discount. There’s also the option to search for online or in-store gift vouchers. There are three different types of gift vouchers available to purchase: printable vouchers, physical Gift Cards and eGift Cards.
Once you’ve found the voucher you want, click on the icon and you’ll be directed to the purchase screen. If there’s more than one voucher available, they’ll be listed along with their corresponding discount. The level of discount is set by sellers. Simply make your selection by clicking on the ‘Buy Now’ button.
The buying process is simple and you have the option to pay via PayPal or you can add your debit or credit card details.
I was given some free Zeek credit in return for this review, so I’ll be using it to buy a gift voucher when I spot a bargain at one of my favourite stores.
Once purchased, printable vouchers and eGift Cards appear in your account immediately, whereas physical cards are sent within seven working days.
b) Selling.
If you’ve got any unwanted gift vouchers, Zeek’s selling process (online or via the app) is just as straightforward. I sold an unwanted Marks & Spencers gift card worth £10 via the website (it’s just as easy using the app). All I had to do was find ‘Marks & Spencer’ by browsing through the retailers or by entering it into the search box. Once I’d selected my chosen retailer I completed the online form. As mine was a paper voucher, I needed to upload a photograph of both sides of my voucher, as well as entering the number, value, security code and expiry date. Once I’d entered the required details, I was invited to set my discount on the next page. I set the minimum discount (8%) and was offered the option of £7 cash or £9 Zeek credit. I opted for Zeek credit as I’m planning to take advantage of Zeek’s discounted gift cards in future.
After submitting my gift voucher details, Zeek checked it and I received an email in less than 10 minutes informing me it had been approved. In my case, my gift voucher sold immediately. Furthermore, as my gift card can also be used digitally, I didn’t need to post it to Zeek (which would incur a postage charge).
Once you’ve sold your gift voucher it takes up to 14 days for you to be paid, (for paper vouchers you’ll be paid within 14 days of it being received by Zeek).
What Gift Vouchers are available on Zeek?
As I’ve mentioned, there are hundreds of discounted gift vouchers on offer at Zeek Marketplace from many of the big brands. However, the availability of specific retailers and the level of discount can vary from hour to hour and day to day.
For example, when I checked the website today there were no Amazon, Mothercare or Apple gift vouchers available. So if you’re after a gift voucher for a particular retailer, it’s a case of checking Zeek regularly for your favourites and snapping them up before they’re gone.
What’s the risk?
All vouchers and gift cards for sale on Zeek undergo several verification procedures before they’re sold, so you shouldn’t have any problems. However, if the card/voucher you receive is inactive, has an inaccurate balance, or you haven’t received it within 30 days, they guarantee your purchase for 60 days.
If you plan on selling your unwanted Gift Vouchers on Zeek Marketplace there are a couple of things to bear in mind. Firstly, if it’s a card that can’t be redeemed electronically, you’ll need to factor in the cost of posting it to Zeek. Secondly, it takes up to 14 days for you to get paid (in cash or Zeek credit).
Remember, vouchers aren’t the same as cash so if the store goes bust, if the expiry date lapses, or if you lose the gift voucher or redemption code, you’ve lost your money.
How to get £5 FREE Zeek credit.
If you fancy buying or selling gift vouchers with Zeek marketplace, all you need to do is download the App (via Google Play or the App Store) or visit the Zeek website and register. Once registered, select ‘Promo Codes’ from the menu and enter ‘2M6ZBFD9‘ and you’ll get £5 free credit.
Download the Zeek App via this link to claim your £5 FREE credit.
The great news is, once you’ve joined you’ll be able to generate your own promo code to share with friends, so if they register you’ll both get £5 credit! Result!
Zeek: What’s the verdict?
As long as it’s money you planned on spending anyway, Zeek is a great place to buy discounted vouchers. It’s also a great place to sell unwanted vouchers, if you bear in mind you’ll lose some money on them. However, if you opt for credit rather than cash when you sell your voucher, you can probably absorb any loss when you go on to make future gift card purchases.
The buying and selling process is simple and straightforward and the app and website are easy to navigate.
As a bargain hunter, I’ll definitely be checking out Zeek Marketplace prior to making any future purchases. Especially as I’ll be able to save even more money if I can use cashback websites like Quidco and Topcashback to visit my chosen retailer.
Over to you.
Have you ever been given gift cards for stores you never visit or lost money because your gift card has expired or the retailer has gone bust? Would you consider using Zeek marketplace to buy and sell gift vouchers in future? As always, I’d love to hear from you.
