I’m a guest star! I share my blogging successes & embarrassing fails.
Be my guest!
As well as enjoying writing my own guest series, ‘Creative Inspirations’, where I interview artists and other super-talented creative types (see them all HERE), I love reading other bloggers guest series too. There are some fantastic ones out there, which I hope to share with you in the coming months.
However, today I’m showcasing two of them, not just because they are among my favourites, but because I’ve had the honour (or perhaps not…You’ll see what I mean in a bit) of being featured in both recently.
‘I’m a Blogging success because…’ – Mummy in a Tutu.
This series, hosted by the lovely Katie over at Mummy in a Tutu, invites bloggers to write about why they think they’re a blogging success.
Katie only started blogging herself a year ago, but she’s doing brilliantly, having been nominated for numerous awards already. She blogs about life, parenting and everything in between. I love Katie’s honest, ‘wears-her-heart-on-her-sleeve’ writing style. She’s also one of the most generous and supportive bloggers I know, always ready to encourage, share posts and retweet fellow bloggers tweets. That’s saying something, too, because there are lots of super-supportive bloggers out there. Plus she has the most scrumptuously, gorgeous little girl, Alyssa.
Katie’s style is summed up in her own words:
An honest and yet comedic approach to blogging. Why sugar coat when life isn’t?
As with many of my favourite blogs, I don’t get the chance to pop across to Mummy in a Tutu as often as I’d like, but when I do, there’s always something interesting to read. Katie has written some thought-provoking and powerful posts in the last 12 months. The standout one for me is ‘Get of your arse…Blogging isn’t a real job‘ which brought her to the attention of the National Press (the BBC, no less).
I love Katie’s ‘I’m a blogging success series.’ It appeals to me because it lets me peep into the minds of other bloggers. It’s fascinating to find out what they think about their own blogging journey and what their goals and hopes are for the future.
Naturally, I felt honoured when she asked me to feature in this series. It turned out to an interesting post to write because it demanded some serious introspection and soul-searching on my part.
Did I feel like a blogging success?
What is a blogging success?

The Oops files – Absolutely Prabulous.
What can I say about Prabs from Absolutely Prabulous? She’s hilarious, honest, no-nonsense and an absolute gem. She lives in sunny Malta with her family and blogs about…Well, tell you what, instead of me trying to describe the indescribably talented award-winning blogger, Prabs, I’m going to let her speak for herself:
Hi I’m a former London/Paris girl turned beach-lover in Malta. Greatest achievement: leaving the house with 3 kids (don’t worry, they’re all mine). Biggest fears: running out of vodka & screwing up my kids (in that order). Married to: the luckiest man on earth (obvs). Best skill: losing my keys. Worst addiction: sarcasm. Cleverest housewife tip: wearing sunglasses at home so I can’t see the mess. If you’re looking for a How To Guide on Parenting & Domesticity…what on earth are you doing here…?
Prabs runs several great ‘linkys’ and serials on her blog, including:
- #Blogstars. Prabs regularly lists her 20 favourite blog posts. It creates a wonderful reading list, crammed full of bloggers you may or may not know, covering a diverse range of topics.
- #CandidCuddles (A Quote Linky she co-hosts with Becky from Cuddle Fairy). Bloggers link-up and share typed or graphical posts offering a message, a personal insight or mantra that helps them in their life. The quotes featured can be inspirational and motivational, funny or sarcastic.
- #Oopsfiles. This hilarious series of guest posts is one of my favourites. Bloggers and writers share their ‘funny tales of blinding bloopers, cringy cock-ups and mortifying mistakes’ – basically their big, fat fails.
So, I’ve been putting off the inevitable. I have added my biggest, most embarrassing oops to her files. An oops so massive that despite the 23 other cringeworthy ‘Oops files’ preceding mine, Prabs reckons its ‘One of the FUNNIEST Oops Files EVER.’
Click on the link below and see if you agree (but promise you’ll come back!):
Over to you.
If you’re a blogger, tell me why you are a blogging success. Believe me, if you have a website and you’re publishing, you are already a success, so don’t be modest.
Also, I’ve shared mine so you share yours! Tell me about some of your most embarrassing moments!
Come on, I dare you!
